Project Background

Mantra Services was commissioned on a programme of works to complete multiple site surveys and on site marking out to establish space for mobile phone towers and equipment to be located. The surveys included the following techniques: A desktop study to obtain any available utility records.

Lifting all visible chamber covers using manual or mechanical techniques as required.
Trace all accessible pipes and ducts both above ground and in chambers using EM techniques and then an active and passive sweep of the site to locate any conductors not located previously.
A Ground Penetrating Radar survey to the site.
On site mark up of all detected utilities
Identify to the clients representative all discovered discrepancies and items considered important for further investigation.

Project Challenges and Our Response

Specific challenges to this project were the multi-site co-ordination across the UK and the specific timing of operations to coincide with the clients NRSWA permits and traffic management constraints.

Mantra Services demonstrable experience in working on multi-site programmes throughout the UK ensured that the project team had the correct tools and processes in place to manage this transient and logistical challenge.

As Mantra Services provides our own traffic management and co-ordination of the NRSWA permits when required, this ensures that any Mantra team when working under a client’s provision is fully aware of the process.
